‘How Does Origami Sound?’ Paul collaborates with german Jazz Septet. Music now available!

I always like to work on unusual origami-based projects and few have been as unusual – or as interesting – as the small part I played in helping to bring into being, a collection of compositions performed by german Jazz Septet, ‘KOi’ fronted by double bass player, Matthias Akeo Nowak. Matthias wanted to use the folded geometry, symmetry and angles of origami to create a series of jazz compositions. In conversations and by email, we discuses various concepts, though I think my contribution was more background and context, than musical ideas. I also contributed a piece of folded artwork for the cover of the CD. To my ears, the pieces sound great, complex, beautifully played and very evocative…
